If you are reading this article you have done or are doing your research on epoxy flooring. The benefits, the downfalls, how it’s installed and who should be installing the product. This article explains the benefits of a garage epoxy floor, what to look for in a contractor and where else this type of flooring can be used successfully.
- Easy to clean and sanitary
As a contractor for many years, I have found that our customers are choosing to have their floor coated in epoxy is due to these three benefits. Keep in mind, not all epoxy is created equal and neither are all contractors. The only way to ensure you are going to take advantage of these benefits is by using the right contractor with the right materials. How to choose a contractor and pricing is another post we have already done, if you’re interested click here.
High quality epoxy installed correctly is extremely durable and a common choice for airplane hangers, large commercial spaces, warehouses, retail and of course garage floors, pool decks and driveways. Don’t be fooled by “epoxy paint,” these single component products are essentially useless. Choose a contractor who uses a high solids two component epoxy and you’ll be enjoying your floor for years if not decades. A full epoxy floor system more often than not should include a clear or pigmented topcoat, including urethanes, polyurethane or polyaspartic/polyureas. Top coats create even further durability and resistance to sunlight, chemicals and abrasion.
Garage epoxy floor systems are easy to clean, maintain and are sanitary. Many well known kitchens, vet and medical offices use an epoxy system for their floor due to how easy and sanitary these floors remain. No grout lines for things to soak into, no staining of carpet and waterproof. It’s a no brainer to use a system like this for garages with regular spills, and really all the concrete in or around your home or business.
As good as the first two benefits are, most of our customers simply want their floor to look better! Raw concrete is dusty and rarely seems to be clean. Almost always has cracks and divots. An epoxy system is guaranteed to clean up your space with many colors to choose from between a solid color, or by adding decorative flake, or using our decorative marble epoxy system. All of our flooring options are stunning works of art for your floor.
